President Barack Obama has nominated Lake Orion lawyer Marietta S. Robinson for a seat on the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
If approved, she would serve a seven-year term.
Robinson is a personal injury lawyer and raised about $28,500 for Obama's first run for the presidency. She's contributed to other state and national Democratic candidates, too.
In 2011 she was one of two people being vetted for spots on the U.S. District Court. In 2002, she vied for the Democratic nomination for state attorney general and in 2000 she ran for a seat on the Michigan Supreme Court.
