$2,000 Tote Looks Like Ikea Shopping Bags

Ikea may have redesigned their classic blue tote bag, but it seems that demand is still high for the iconic item. Balenciaga, the French luxury brand, just released its Arena Extra Large Shopping Tote, which looks pretty darn similar to the old Ikea shopping bag. The difference is that this bag costs $2,145, rather than the 99 cents Ikea sold its for.

According to Today, the bag is available at Barneys, and is "constructed of blue wrinkled, glazed leather." It also includes a gold stamped logo on top of the bag, probably nothing like the gold-ish Ikea logo that adorned the shopping bags.

"We are deeply flattered that the Balenciaga tote bag resembles the Ikea iconic sustainable blue bag for 99 cents," Ikea told Today in an email. "Nothing beats the versatility of a great big blue bag!"

So, for those who are doing some seriously upscale shopping, this fancy new bag has the durability and look of a Sunday trip to Ikea for some pillowcases with funny names.
