After a big push to increase its environmentally friendly business practices and break into more “green markets” such as organic cotton, New York-based Anvil Knitwear has been named one of the top ten global barnds and retailers using organic cotton.
According to the Organic Cotton Market Report 2007-2008 released by the nonprofit organization Organic Exchange Global retail sales of organic cotton apparel and home textile products reached an estimated $3.2 billion in 2008. This represents a 63 percent increase from the $1.9 billion market in 2007. For Anvil Knitwear, this means the company is well-positioned to be part of a global trend. The company is listed among some of the most recognized retailers in the world, including Wal-Mart, Nike and Pottery Barn.
