U.S. Apparel Manufacturer, Decorator FesslerUSA Closes after 112 Years of Operation

FesslerUSA, an apparel manufacturer and decorator based out of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, has closed down after 112 years operations. In an interview with the Associated Press (AP), owner Walter Meck cited the recession, increasing overseas competition and difficulty obtaining loans as reasons for the business’s closing.

FesslerUSA worked primarily in the private-label fashion industry, and was also notable as a an apparel mill with a high level of vertical integration, going as far as to weave its own fabric. According to the AP article, FesslerUSA earned $25 million in sales annually at it’s pre-recession peak.
