U.S. Olympic Committee Partners with Staples for Team USA Shop at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs
The Team USA Shop, located at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., celebrated its grand reopening during the second annual Warrior Games presented by Deloitte on Tuesday, May 17. The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) partnered with Staples Promotional Products to manage the Team USA Shop, a USOC licensee through 2016.
"Staples Promotional Products is proud to partner with the USOC on their retail store," said Staples Promotional Products strategic account manager of Olympic activation Donna Armstrong. "The Team USA Shop is a great reflection of the USOC's commitment to their brand. We feel we are in the best position to support the USOC and their partners with this new level of engagement. Partnering with Nike, Outerstuff and other licensees will give sponsors the edge they need and expect to activate their sponsorship with hip, fresh merchandise."
Renovated to provide better space and lighting for visitors, the shop will feature newly branded USOC products as well as apparel from Nike, the USOC's official outfitter, and Outerstuff, USOC licensee. All products will showcase the new brand and highlight the store's new design.
"We are excited to offer new Team USA merchandise and feature the new USOC brand in the renovated Team USA Shop," said USOC managing director of consumer products Peter Zeytoonjian. "The store's new look enhances the visitor experience at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and offers a wide variety of Nike and Outerstuff gear, along with additional licensed products, which are available just in time to help fans support Team USA during the patriotic summer holidays."
The first 500 shoppers on opening day received a free gift upon purchase. Also, 2010 Olympic bobsledder Emily Azevedo and Curt Tomasevicz, brakeman of the 2010 Olympic gold medal-winning "Night Train" bobsled team, were available for autographs throughout the day.
