OMG … Get off ur Blackberry

My wife and I are blessed. In late July we welcomed our second child, a 6 pound, 2 ounce baby girl into our family. With her big brother, a wild and happy two-year-old, our family of four is abound with good fortune. While we're in constant motion (and, yes, slightly tired), I am sincerely grateful.

In the days following our new arrival, I became amazed by the generous outpouring and genuine good wishes. Naturally, our friends and family were supportive and kind, and we are truly appreciative. The poignant reminder of how lucky we are was
realized by the outreach from work relationships. I received countless e-mails and phone calls from coworkers and professional colleagues. Some people offered advice and everyone
offered a warm congratulations. People say it all the time, but our industry truly is personal and I love that.

There was no time to stay idle, however, because 2009 is merciless and unsympathetic—somewhat like a hungry newborn at 3:00 a.m. So, I returned to work recovering from sleepless nights and fuzzy days. (As a footnote for those of you without children, enjoy your rest because kids redefine "tired.") I suppose technology, specifically my BlackBerry, helped facilitate a seamless return. While I was inaccessible for most of my time out, I did reply to a few e-mails. In fact, upon hearing the pending news that we were expecting a baby later in the day, one of my industry friends wrote, "CONGRATS! OMG…get off ur blackberry…lol." She was right, and I did. In addition to technology and highly caffeinated beverages, my remedy for staying energized is to stay busy. I subscribe to Newton's first law of motion: an object in motion will remain in motion.

The Promo Marketing team has been busy. We're excited, and we're not resting. We will invest and innovate, compete and continue to deliver products and services to help distributors and suppliers. Keep your eyes open and ears peeled. There are days for each of us to celebrate personally, and in the pending weeks Promo Marketing will introduce a few reasons for all of us to celebrate professionally.

I wish for all of you the joy and happiness that my kids have given my wife and me. Find us on Facebook and let us know what's going on in your life, personally and professionally.
