Though the official start date of spring is March 20, I thought I'd celebrate a bit earlier by clueing you into two new trends for spring and summer. They already exist in this industry so you don't need to wait for new catalogs to start selling.

Pastels
Pastels for babies and children are wonderful (just look at this adorable onesie from L.A. T Sportswear). Pastels for adults must be handled with caution. You do not want your clients or their consumers looking like overgrown children in their Easter wears. The best way to do this is to use mint green. The hue is gender neutral, can be formal or casual depending on how you style it, and comes in shades light enough to seem basic rather than a statement color. Baby blue and light pink are other good options.

Fruits
Kenzo showcased jewelry with walnuts and orange slices encased in resin or gold. This fruity trend is the perfect alternative to florals for spring (as any good fashionista knows, you need an alternative to florals), especially because it can continue throughout the year. Peanuts and watermelon for summer. Almonds and apples for fall. Chestnuts and cranberries for winter.
