Staples CEO Ron L. Sargent has resigned from The Home Depot Inc.’s board of directors, effective immediately, the Georgia-based home improvement retailer disclosed in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Sargent did not cite any disagreement on any matter relating to the company’s operations, policies or practices, according to the filing.
Sargent, who has served as CEO of the Framingham-based office-supply giant since 2002, currently serves on the boards of Mattel Inc. and The Kroger Co.
Sargent was appointed president and chief operating officer of Staples in 1998, and joined the company in 1989 as a regional vice president.
