A Louis Vuitton Trophy Case Is Fitting for an Organization Like FIFA
If there's one international organization that's known for its financial responsibility and transparency, it is not FIFA, the governing body of world soccer.
A company that seems to constantly be at the center of some scandal involving bribery or misallocated funding using swanky, over-the-top Louis Vuitton promotional products for its marquee event would almost seem too on-the-nose for even the most daring screenwriter to include it in a movie.
But, it's kind of exactly what FIFA is doing before the upcoming World Cup in Russia.
GQ released pictures of the Louis Vuitton World Cup collection, which includes a swanky travel case for the trophy to make its way to Russia, a trunk for the balls, backpacks and luggage tags.

You can't buy the Louis Vuitton trophy case with the World Cup trophy inside (actually, maybe try—FIFA might let you if you offer the right price), but you definitely can purchase the Louis Vuitton duffel bags on the first day of the tournament, June 14.
GQ writer Sam Schube quipped:
In the spirit of, uh, team spirit, you can get your LV gear in the colors of your home country, or whichever one you're rooting for, or whichever one is currently processing your application for an offshore account. You know: Some beautiful gear befitting the beautiful game.
He also called the style "the 2018 World Cup's Oligarchs Gone Wild flavor." (Seriously, there's all kinds of corruption surrounding the World Cup this year and 2022.)
So, having crazy-upscale merchandise for such an extravagant event is very on-brand for FIFA, really.
