Aldi's 'Aldidas' Merchandise Line Is a Funny 'Rip-Off' of Streetwear Classics

The UK-based grocery chain Aldi followed up its surprise (and comical) streetwear line with a collection of real, affordable apparel products.

Now having tasted the sweet success of a good apparel collection, Aldi is going a step further by dropping another fashion line unofficially titled "Aldidas." Officially, it's called the Aldi Originals Collection, but Aldi isn't exactly shying away from the three lines in its logo. Or, you know, the fact that it's clearly a satire of "Adidas Originals."

It includes pieces like sweatshirts, hoodies, track tops, sweatpants and even sneakers. Leaning even further into the "We're copying Adidas but you can't prove that" joke, the company tweeted about how no one has ever seen anything like this before. Maybe that's also a joke about their competitors releasing very similar lines.

Those competitors, namely Lidl, also released a sneaker in 2020 for £14. They later sold on eBay for as high as £450, according to Yahoo.

So, Aldi has a good idea that there will be demand for its products, and not just the ones in the grocery aisles.

We have seen things like this before, but Aldi took it to another level by adding the tongue-in-cheek Adidas rip-off and adding a little bit of personality to the collection.
