American Apparel Partners with Postmates for One-hour Delivery
According to a press release, the service will be available in 79 of American Apparel's locations in the U.S., and customers will be able to purchase more than 50 of the company's core items for men and women.
"American Apparel is improving its omni-channel consumer experience via Postmates by becoming their first major fashion retailer to offer 'on-demand basics,'" Thoryn Stephens, American Apparel's chief digital officer, said in the press release. "You'll be able to receive hoodies, T-shirts, socks and more within a 60-minute delivery window—it's great for traveling or last-minute needs."
TechCrunch reported that American Apparel also launched a week-long partnership with the clothing brand Revolve to deliver festival merchandise at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas.
"The combination of American Apparel's real-time, local inventory paired with Postmates' superior delivery technology and national footprint is changing the way customers can access their favorite brands," Holger Luedorf, Postmates' senior vice president of business, said in a press release. "One- or two-day shipping is no longer an option—we are creating entirely new customer experiences."
American Apparel also is providing Postmates with RFID real-time inventory updates, allowing the Postmates app to display up-to-date merchandise offerings. Participating American Apparel retail stores will have access to the app, allowing the employees to get orders ready while a Postmates driver is on the way to pick them up.
