Anvil Knitwear Takes a Strong Green Stand
New York-based apparel maker Anvil Knitwear has released its formalized environmental and social responsibility principles, acknowledging its responsibilities to the global community in which it operates. These principles are designed to inform all of Anvil’s decision making and to support its commitment to environmentally sustainable growth.
“Anvil has committed itself to being an industry leader in key areas,” said CEO Anthony Corsano. “These include creating innovative and eco-friendly products at affordable prices, being a model in our industry for carbon footprint reduction and promoting socially responsible, ethical treatment of all our employees.”
Anvil’s initiatives include energy and water conservation efforts, as well as waste reduction at its manufacturing facilities. With its formalized principles, Anvil is committed to setting continuous improvement objectives, to educating its employees and to reporting progress to its stakeholders. The company will also continue to aggressively create, provide and promote innovative, eco-friendly products.
“Every piece of apparel Anvil offers is manufactured with the environment in mind, even if it is not organic,” said Corsano. “From our factories to our corporate offices, we are continuously looking for ways to reduce our footprint. We created these guidelines because we hope to serve as a model for other companies that share our goal of a cleaner industry.”
In addition to the environmental and social responsibility principles, Anvil has launched an ad campaign aimed at informing the industry and its customers of its proactive environmental and social efforts. Hult Fritz Matuszak designed the new ads which convey Anvil’s message through the tagline: “For you. For us. For the Earth.” The ads will begin running in November.
