Artmetal Promotional Products' Evan Krofchick Honored for Volunteer Work
Toronto-based Artmetal Promotional Products president Evan Krofchick, MAS, has received the Outstanding Volunteer Award for his work with the Beth Sholom Out of the Cold program from Mike Colle, MPP (Ontario member of Provincial Parliament-Eglinton/Lawrence area). Krofchick received the award on June 2, 2010.
Krofchick’s twin brother Matthew also received this award and both of his parents received the same award for their work in managing the Out of the Cold program last year.
Out of the Cold is an emergency shelter program runs all winter long in Toronto. Beth Sholom Out of the Cold runs every Tuesday evening and on average feeds 150 less-fortunate individuals, sleeps 40 and provides clothing, art class, music and entertainment.
The Out for the Cold program is an interfaith-based outreach program for the homeless. It is made up of churches and synagogues with aid works from Dixion Hall, a Toronto-funded outreach program. The Beth Sholom Out of the Cold program is funded entirely through the efforts of its congregation, donations and its partnership with Beth Tzedic synagogue.
Krofchick feels that it is important to help those that are less fortunate. He is humbled to be a part of a program that gets people off the street and gives them nourishment. Commented Krofchick, “It definitely puts life into perspective. It makes you think twice about complaining about what you have.”
