Backpacks as Fashion?
Over on Huffingtonpost.com, Tory Burch talks about the reintroduction of backpacks to the fashion world. For the promotional product industry, there does seem to be some crossover in terms of backpacks becoming more professional than functional, and who could argue the quality and look of bags from companies like Leaman Designs and Coach? Are backpacks headed the way of $1000 handbags and bejeweled clutches? Only time will tell. On the other hand, there is nothing like checking out the latest Ogio bag to see what new pocket theyve created now.
The Backpack Comes Around Again
In fashion, what goes around comes around. We constantly draw inspiration from our collective fashion past. The effortlessly chic sportswear of the 40s and 70s, for example, is always present on the runways. It could be through a nod to Kate Hepburn's favored long, tailored and straight-legged trousers or the flattering yet body-conscious silhouettes of jersey dresses. Sometimes, we bring back a particular item that invokes a personal sense of nostalgia. For me, it's the backpack, a look we re-envisioned and updated for summer with our Palma backpack.
