BCG Creations' Bill Miller Talks Acquisition by HUB Promotional Group

This week, HUB Promotional Group announced two acquisitions, Origaudio and BCG Creations. Bill Miller, founder of BCG Creations, spoke with Promo Marketing about the acquisition—how it happened, why he made the move and what it means for customers.

Promo Marketing: Could you give us a little bit of background on this deal from your perspective?
Bill Miller: A little while ago they contacted us and expressed interest in our company—a couple of months ago.

PM: Did you have any previous relationship with HUB before this?
BM: No, no.

PM: So they kind of contacted you out of the blue then?
BM: Pretty much, yeah. They had heard about us. We had been on their radar for a while I guess.

PM: So since you didn't know anyone over there, what made this appealing for BCG then?
BM: Well BCG was not really 100 percent interested initially, because we've been doing OK on our own, you know? HUB is HUB. HUB and the other members of the group are strong players in the industry, and it's a time to take our business to a different level. That made it very interesting for us.

PM: Do you think your customers will see any shakeups or change from this?
BM: No. You know, the truth of the matter is that there is absolutely no shakeup. It is business as usual. Sharon [Miller] and I are the owners of the company and we're still here, long-term, and we're still doing business the BCG way. That's what made us attractive to the HUB group initially anyway.

PM: What are you looking forward to the most from this?
BM: Well, let's face it, HUB is a very strong and progressive company, as are the other players, Debco, Best and Beacon. These are all strong players. Even though we've been in this business some 38 years, you can never learn enough and you can never grow enough. And we plan on reaching out through these people with stronger buying power, stronger selling power to buying groups as it were. There's a lot of advantages. Technologically they're very advanced. We see a lot of future with them for growth.

PM: What do you think customers can look forward to the most from this?
BM: The truth is, our present customers will not really see or feel a difference, other than they'll have some exposure, if they don't already have exposure, to our partner companies. Our new customers, those coming to us via HUB and all of the other partners, they can expect a service they've never had before. BCG is quite famous for our service and dedication to our clientele, the speed we do business. It's our new clients who will feel a difference. Our old clients won't really feel a difference.

PM: Anything else you'd like to add?
BM: We're quite excited to be a part of the HUB group, and it's a great-looking future for us!
