Woodinville, Washington-based Bensussen Deutsch & Associates Inc. (BDA) today announced the appointment of David Schwartz to the role of chief information officer. Schwartz comes to BDA from Expedia, where he was vice president of engineering.
As CIO, Schwartz will oversee the strategy, implementation and integration of BDA's information technology and e-commerce systems. BDA currently operates more than 40 e-commerce sites for such brands as Bank of America, FedEx, NFL, Caterpillar, Ford and GEICO.
"David is adept at finding effective solutions to complex technical problems, and is an exceptional leader who develops talent and delivers results," said BDA CEO and co-founder Jay Deutsch. "Under his direction, BDA will continue to enhance and expand our e-commerce capabilities to provide our clients the most robust and secure webstore platforms in the market."
Schwartz brings more than 20 years of I.T. experience to BDA, including specialized expertise in leading business strategy and system initiatives within rapidly growing organizations.
"BDA clearly has a keen understanding of the e-commerce side of the branded merchandise business," Schwartz said. "There are practices I've learned working in the online retail world that will be of great value at BDA as we grow and refine our e-commerce offerings. In this field, there's always another way to improve site performance, speed and security."
While at Expedia, the world's largest online travel agency, Schwartz led the development of a core transaction processing platform, managing an extensive team of technology professionals. He coordinated the integration of the Hotels.com and Expedia.com global platforms and his team built a fully integrated Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), winning IBM's coveted Data Warehouse Implementation of the Year award for 2010.
Schwartz, a University of Alabama graduate, has also worked for Point B Solutions, Ernst & Young and Deloitte Consulting.
