Campaign Vendor Sells Out of Trump Merch for First Time
Mort Berkowitz told New York Post that he's been selling campaign merchandise for more than 40 years. But in four decades, this year was different. Berkowitz said he sold out of Donald Trump watches, and his inaugural buttons are selling as quickly as he can produce them.
He said a lot of the business comes from Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma. Before this, much of his success was from bluer states. But the Trump popularity (and his focus on merchandising) changed that.
"Before the election, I sold as much Trump merchandise as Hillary Clinton merchandise," he told New York Post. "That's never happened for a Republican before. Trump supporters are passionate."
It's no surprise that Trump merchandise is selling so quickly. Merchandising was a major part of his campaign, and likely played a role in his election win.
