Charles River Apparel Announces 2013 Holiday Season Donation Totals
Charles River Apparel, the supplier based in Sharon, Mass., announced the results of its third annual 'Tis the Season for Giving charitable campaign, donating a total of 3,000 garments to the homeless during the 2013 holiday season.
The company invited social media users to become fans of Charles River Apparel on Facebook from Thanksgiving through Dec. 31st. Every new "like" on the company's page equaled a new garment for the Bowery Mission, a New York-based organization that has served homeless and hungry New Yorkers since 1879.
"For people served by the Bowery Mission, warm clothing in the winter can make the difference between hopelessness and hope. New clothes can be the first step toward a transformed life," said Ed Morgan, president of the Bowery Mission. "We are grateful to Charles River Apparel for caring about New Yorkers in need."
In addition, Charles River Apparel donated locally to Christmas in the City, a 100 percent volunteer organization that hosts an annual holiday party with live entertainment, amusement rides and a petting zoo for 3,000-plus homeless individuals and families in the surrounding Boston area.
“We are so thrilled with the outpouring of support we received for the third year of our ’Tis the Season for Giving campaign, specifically from our customers nationwide," said Barry Lipsett, Charles River Apparel's president and owner. "It is wonderful to be able to give so many pieces of apparel and know each and every one will help keep an individual warm this winter.”
