Charles River Apparel Named The Mid-size Massachusetts Family Business of the Year
Charles River Apparel, a leading manufacturer of performance apparel, was named the Massachusetts Family Business of the Year in the mid-size category by Northeastern University Center for Family Business. Barry Lipsett, president and owner of Charles River Apparel, attended the award ceremony held on Wednesday, June 6 and was on hand to accept the James .F Molloy Jr. Award on behalf of the entire Lipsett family.
This is the 6th annual event which honors the leading family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in Massachusetts, recognizing them for their success in running and managing their family businesses. Awards are handed out for small, mid-size and large family businesses and are based on business success, positive business and family linkages, multi-generational family involvement, contributions to the community and industry, and innovative business practices or strategies.
Charles River Apparel has deep roots as a family-owned company with over a quarter century of experience. In 1983, Barry's father Walter Lipsett founded the company and still remains involved in the business. Barry's wife Deb Lipsett is manager of community partnerships in the marketing department, and his sister Julie Lipsett works part-time in human resources.
