DC Comics Receives Criticism Over T-Shirts
DC Comics has drawn criticism over two T-shirts that critics say display sexist themes.
The shirts—one displaying in pink text, “Training to be Batman’s wife,” and the other depicting Superman embracing Wonder Woman with the caption, “Score! Superman Does it Again!”—have received a strong reaction from critics who say the shirts belittle women.
According to a report by Comic Book Resources, DC Comics officially licensed both shirts.
DC Comics replied to the controversy, stating that it understands the offensive nature of the shirts, and that the company is devoted to empowering boys and girls through its content. DC also said that it is looking into the licensing and design process to ensure that products match their ideals.
