Evans Manufacturing Announces Collaboration With Jo-Bee Line, Acquires Machinery

Evans Manufacturing, Garden Grove, Calif., announced today a collaborative effort between itself and Economy Pen and Pencil Company/Jo-Bee, Shelbyville, Tenn. In conjunction with the closing of the Shelbyville facility, Evans will be acquiring a collection of the best-selling Jo-Bee products and machinery in an effort to assure the tradition of good service and quality that are synonymous with the Jo-Bee brand.

According to Shelley Sake, vice president of marketing at Evans Manufacturing Inc., "The addition of the Jo-Bee line of products allows us to enter the pencil and school categories with a comprehensive collection in place, while also helping us to expand our writing instrument category. Evans and Jo-Bee share very similar core values of providing quality products with outstanding sales and customer service. It's a win-win situation."

A family-owned business for over 65 years, Jo-Bee will be closing their doors late this summer. David Pitner, owner of Economy Pen and Pencil Company/Jo-Bee, will be working with Evans in a consulting role to ensure that Jo-Bee's customers experience a smooth transition. Mr. Pitner stated, "While this is an emotional time for our family, I've been very impressed with the total quality emphasis, marketing and customer reach that Evans can bring to our line. My brother, Allen, and I want to thank all of our customers and employees for their continued support. We are happy to see a part of our family history survive and thrive with Evans Manufacturing."

Meanwhile, as the two companies merge their expertise, products and machinery, it will continue to be business as usual at both facilities. Alan Vaught, owner of Evans Manufacturing, added, "We expect a seamless transition for our combined customers.
