Is the Fanny Pack Due for a Comeback?
The fashion world has long hoped so.
Over the past few seasons, fashion designers have tried to incorporate fanny packs into their high-end looks, but consumers haven’t gotten on board—yet.
But the tides may be changing. During Milan Fashion Week earlier this month, brands (including Versace, Ferragamo, Canali and MSGM) dressed up the hands-free accessory in ways that may be able to counter the typical notion of the fanny pack, Bloomberg reported.
While some of the fanny packs maintained the usual look, some were worn in different ways (think over-the-shoulder and cross-body) and others looked more like regular bags, just worn at the hip. In most cases, the fanny packs actually did look, well, hip.
The return of fanny packs is an interesting notion to entertain—and certainly a relevant one for the promotional products industry. Whether end-users are traveling or spending the day at Disney World, fanny packs are a great way to stay hands free and unencumbered.
The functionality is all there. And, they are primed for imprints. So, maybe it’s just a matter of making them seem like a more natural, stylish addition to the typical end-user’s wardrobe.
