Fashion & Accessories Show Heat Up PPAI Las Vegas
The catwalk was on fire at this year’s Fashion & Accessories Show, held Thurs., Jan., 4, at the PPAI Expo in Las Vegas. With the theme: “Where Products Meet Paparazzi”, a cluster of picture-taking fanatics dressed in safari gear mobbed the stage as models exploded on to the runway.
To say the show was hot is an understatement. SanMar’s opening act to its “Step Up to SanMar” segment featured an ensemble of seductive dancers dressed in red-hot dresses and suits sashaying to the tunes of sultry 50s music. This was followed by an entourage of models donning selected garments from Dunbrooke’s Reebok line.
One would think that magnets would have no place in a fashion and accessories show. Think again. After all, anything is possible in the world of promotional products. Reported to carry the largest magnet selection in the industry, Magna-Tel Line held its own on the catwalk. The company was highlighted in the “Brand Recognition” segment, where models were draped in over-sized, laminated magnet designs as they carried larger-than-life magnet replicas with as much sass as they would any garment or accessory.
Another highlight came when R.S. Owens, one of the industry’s top suppliers of prestigious awards, gave a surprise appearance by Barbara Streisand (her look-alike, at least) singing a signature tune as she accepted am Emmy award.
The fun didn’t stop there. In the final segment of the night, Bodek And Rhodes gave a show-stopping “Color Blast” performance. A tribe of dancers converged on the stage donned in skin-tight, tie-dyed body suits dancing to a variety of hip-hop beats. Then, a line of models filed through, debuting new and colorful styles from the company’s UltraClub line.
Aside from the applause that erupted after every segment and the catcalls directed to a select few of the models, it was evident that a good time was had by all.
