Pro Sports Teams Announcing Promotional Products for Year
The NHL and NBA seasons are back in full swing, and teams have begun to release their promotional schedules for the 2014-15 season. And even though the Major League Baseball season just ended last month, teams like the New York Mets have already released their promotional giveaways for the 2015 season. Here are a few interesting promotions from around the professional sports world.
The NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers have quite a draw with the return of superstar LeBron James, but they also have a lot of interesting freebies for Cavs fans. For their opening night, the Cavs gave away a magnet schedule, a Cavaliers light-up baton, a shirt resembling their new alternate uniforms, and a LeBron James poster.
Other promotions during this season include an Anderson Varejao blanket, a rally towel, a Dion Waiters Fathead and a sword yearbook. Click here to view the entire schedule.
The Washington Capitals of the NHL also released a promotional schedule. Caps fans can look forward to promotions including an Alexander Ovechkin bobblehead, a gift basket auction, and a free beach bag.
Finally, even though the World Series ended just last month, that hasn't stopped the New York Mets from planning out their next season. The Mets released their 2015 promotional schedule, including some original and fun promotions.
For starters, the Mets will continue their Free Shirt Friday tradition, giving away different T-shirts from the beginning of the season in April to the end of regular season play in October, each with original designs. Some feature old or stylized versions of the classic "NY" logo, while others are player-specific.
The Washington Nationals got attention for their garden gnome giveaway, modeled after right fielder Jayson Werth. The Mets will put their own spin on this promotion by giving away a gnome modeled after Mets pitcher Jacob deGrom before they face off against Washington in May.
Fans can also look forward to Mets fedoras, jerseys, bags and bobbleheads. One bobblehead commemorates the Mets' 1986 World Series victory over the Boston Red Sox, which will be given away before the Mets play Boston in August. Baseball fans remember this series as the famous ball-between-Buckner's-legs series, so this giveaway adds a bit of a sting to any Boston fans who may make the trip to Queens for the game.
