Geiger, Lewiston, Maine, recently announced that it will receive Ventana Research's 2014 Technology Leadership Award at an awards ceremony held Oct. 22, 2014 in Burlingame, Calif. Geiger will be recognized for outstanding technology achievement for its recent implementation of product information management (PIM) technology. Dale Denham, chief information officer for Geiger, is also being recognized for his leadership in this project.
"The Technology Leadership Awards are the most prestigious annual industry awards provided today that acknowledge and honor individuals and organizations for their accomplishments using technology to deliver the best value in achieving specific goals and objectives," said Mark Smith, CEO and chief research officer of Ventana Research. "Congratulations to all the Technology Leadership Award winners—individuals and companies that have gone the extra mile to advance the use of technology through best practices and leadership."
"While we are proud to receive this award, we recognize the real value of our efforts has been to position us for strong e-commerce growth while increasing efficiency in working with our sales partners and production partners," noted Denham. "Successful technology projects require several things to go right. The first step is picking the right software to address the business need, and that isn't as easy as it seems. But even more difficult is changing processes to take advantage of the software and delivering the expected results."
Gene Geiger, the company's president, commented on the award. "Strong I.T. team collaboration has provided significant value to the company through analysis, resource selection and implementation," he said. "Our company will continue to invest in technology that supports our sales partners in the ever-expanding e-commerce market. With some 300-plus e-commerce-enabled sales-partner sites, including www.geiger.com, I am confident our I.T. team can meet this challenge."
