For juniors, Clifford noted scoop, boat and V-necks are popular. For women, sales of vintage-inspired styles like the burnout T-shirts remain strong. "In our women's line the burnout T-shirt, our burnout sublimation collection and the vintage silicon washed tank are popular items," said Clifford. Crow seconded the popularity of burnout, adding that modal, gauze and 50/50 cotton/viscose polyester jersey are other great materials. "These styles range from 3.7 to 4.2 oz., have a bit of stretch for comfort and fit, and are longer silhouettes," she elaborated. "A value-added benefit to some of these styles is that you can buy them with all-over sublimated prints … then add the company logo or message."
Women are not the only ones reviving vintage styles. Men prefer the distressed, worn-in look as well. "Our two new styles, the V-neck short sleeve and the distressed crew neck short sleeve, [are popular]. Both are silicon washed and made of 100 percent ring-spun combed cotton which gives them a super-soft hand," Clifford said. Crow stated that for men, performance and comfort are necessities. "Performance pieces in polos, long sleeve T-shirts and short sleeve T-shirts [are popular]. These are flattering garments that are in style to wear at the office and … the gym or in daily life," said Crow. "The performance characteristics keep the wearer cool and the shirts are easy to pack and care for."
Specific trends may change year to year, but certain styles last forever. The best evergreen garments are basics. "I think it's always going to be the basic T-shirt and the hoodie," Clifford said. "In this industry, the T-shirt is always the most popular style. The basic T-shirt is re-inspired year after year with new fabrics, necklines and silhouettes, but at the end of the day it's still a T-shirt," she said. Crow has seen summer outerwear remain popular. "The fleece hoodie has been a perennial favorite and its popularity is stronger than ever. Both in pullover and full-zip styles, you can find hoodies for every age group and every demographic," she said.
