In Memoriam: John T. White, President and Owner, Performance Printing Company/Optigraphics
Born in McKinney, Texas on November 13, 1951, he was raised in a highly competitive family of four other brothers, Thomas, Carl, Sims and Greg, all of whom survive him. After the family moved to Corsicana, Texas, John was popular and successful in school, being both a star athlete, President of the Future Farmers of America club, and President of the student body. His achievements landed him a place in the Harvard Class of '74 where he was somewhat of a rarity, being a relatively conservative and easy-going Texas country boy in a liberal East Coast environment. He was 100% of the membership of the Young Republicans in his class at Harvard, and the only disc jockey for the school's country music radio station at the time. Nonetheless, he continued to excel in sports and academics and went on to receive a law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1977, where he made law review. Following graduation, he formed the law firm of White, Cox and Larsen, and, after a merger with the Austin firm of Brown Maroney, decided to work in the printing business as president of Performance Printing.
