Google Sends Couple Branded Merch (Including a Onesie) After They Name Their Son 'Google'
We asked this on the podcast yesterday, but how far would you go to get a bag full of freebies from one of the biggest brands in the world? Would you share some free advertising content on social media? Would you rock a T-shirt every day for a year? Would you name your child after it?
If that last one seems a little far for you, you don't have the commitment of one Indonesian couple, who named their son Google. After the company's Indonesian branch got word of it, they called the family to extend their congratulations and offer a little gift.
"They expressed congratulations and wished that the baby Google could grow up to be a helpful and useful person to many others," the baby's mother told Newser.
In addition to the well wishes, baby Google received a branded onesie, which conveniently doubles as being monogrammed with his name.

Look at that cute little guy rocking that branded apparel since day one.
Before you cry out that the family was just trying to get some recognition and maybe some free stuff, you should hear the pretty endearing reason they selected it.
Per the Jakarta Post:
Believing a child’s name to be a prayer in itself, Ella said she and her husband had hoped that the name would inspire their son to become as all-knowing as the ubiquitous search engine itself.
“I hope my son will grow up to be a leader who is useful to many others,” she said on Friday as quoted by kompas.com.
"At first, I refused to call [our son] Google," she added. "But I grew to like the idea after my husband explained to me that the name would inspire our son to become a helpful leader. Many people have criticized our decision, saying that we should name our third child after WhatsApp. I paid no mind to their opinions, because they don't understand what our son's name truly means."
I think instilling the value of hard work and helpfulness is something we can all get behind. And we can certainly all see the value in Google's decision to hook little baby Google up with some free stuff.
