On Tuesday, Promo Marketing posted some of the features of the newly passed health care legislation. The reaction was overwhelming both in the amount of e-mails we received and in the number of comments left on the site by readers. The reaction was also very telling in that it was almost as polarized as the Senate and the House when it came to approving or disapproving of the bill. The lion's share of readers were either totally in favor of the legislation or totally against it. Very few, if any seemed to find a middle ground.
Here are a couple of examples of comments being made. You can click here to read all the comments.
For Health Care
Great Job Obama! May this be the first step in erasing the inequalities caused by government policies created during the “Age of Reagan.” Most of us owe our success to governmental programs, public education, transportation (airports, roads, rail, shipping docks, etc ...) and parks and beaches to name a few. Although we are happy with our health plans it does not negate the fact that a Healthy well Educated Society necessary for all of us to reach our full potential. -T.S.
Against Health Care
The fact that this Health Care "Reform" has passed is proof that our government and representatives DO NOT CARE about the small business owners nor the middle class in America. There are too many holes to address but if you think for one moment that this is going to improve health care in America, you are in a serious state of denial. This is going to cost Americans billions of dollars and cause major problems for all.
I, for one, am devastated that America is no longer a democracy - but has become a socialist regime. Allowing our government to dictate is a huge mistake that we will ALL pay for. We are in a sad state by having allowed this to happen to our country. So much for freedom...... -E.D.
The question we ask today is are we as polarized as congress on social issues, or is the health care debate just a topic that seems to strike a particular chord with people?
