Leed’s Leads With Participation In Anti-Terror Program
New Kensington, Pennsylvania-based Leed’s, a member of Polyconcept North America and the second largest supplier within the promotional products industry, continues to build and reinforce its existing international supply chain relationships by voluntarily taking part in the Department of Homeland Security’s Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program. C-TPAT is a voluntary initiative between government and business to strengthen and improve international supply chain and U.S. border security. Some of the benefits to C-TPAT members are a decrease in the number of shipments that require inspections by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and priority processing at the border, both of which, for Leed’s, results in improved transit times through its supply chain.
As a major importer of goods, Leed’s has established strong buying power and scheduling flexibility with its overseas manufacturers, and is able to negotiate attractive shipping rates on its cargo. In addition, the company’s status as a Foreign Trade Zone operator allows it to maximize shipment arrival speed by streamlining its processes and delivering shipments directly to its facilities. As the first promotional product industry supplier to operate a Foreign Trade Zone (in 2004), Leed’s C-TPAT certification further highlights Leed’s focus on quality assurance and the safety of its products and employees. According to Larry Whitney, manager of trade compliance at Leed’s, “The Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism certification further demonstrates our commitment to a seamless supply chain process and cements our close cooperation with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.”
Leed’s is the second leading supplier of promotional products and advertising specialties. With offices around the globe, Leed’s products, programs and services are recognized throughout the United States and Canada.
