Lenore Goldberg Memorial Golf Outing to Benefit Melanoma Research
The Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY) Foundation, based in Montvale, N.J. and the SAAGNY board of directors announced the Lenore Goldberg Memorial Golf Outing for the benefit of the Melanoma Research Foundation, will take place on Tues., October 6th at the Philip J. Rotella Memorial Golf Course in the Haverstraw, N.Y.
Lenore Goldberg, a past-president of SAAGNY, 2005–2006, and an avid golfer, was a strong advocate for SAAGNY and the promotional products industry. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her and the many volunteers she mentored. "She was a good friend and a beautiful person and an asset to our industry. Her steering of SAAGNY helped strengthen the organization and her direction of PROMOTIONS EAST helped maintain its status as the leading industry show in the Northeast,” stated Mike Schenker, MAS, Chair, SAAGNY Council of Past Presidents.
Lenore is survived by her beloved husband Stanley, daughters Joyce and Allison, grandsons Jason and Aaron, her mother Beverly and sister Marilyn. It is upon their request that The SAAGNY Foundation is contributing the funds raised through this event to the Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF), Hillsborough, NJ. The mission of the MRF is to support medical research for finding effective treatments and eventually a cure for melanoma. The Foundation also works to educate patients and physicians about the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma. It also acts as an advocate for the melanoma community to raise the awareness of this disease and the need for a cure. Lenore succumbed to mucosal melanoma early in July after a brave two and one half year battle.
Founded in 1995, by several past presidents of SAAGNY, The SAAGNY Foundation puts its energy into helping charitable organizations and events throughout the tri-state area that are traditionally overlooked by corporate contributors and other large donors. The foundation’s focus is on charities that help children whether they are ill, homeless or abused. This is achieved through both financial and in-kind donations from distributors and suppliers in the promotional products industry and through various fundraising events. The SAAGNY Foundation is totally volunteer-driven and is led by a dedicated board of trustees. The SAAGNY Foundation, Inc. is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. Contributions to The SAAGNY Foundation are tax-exempt to the extent of the tax law.
The largest regional association in the industry with over 800 members, SAAGNY is a not-for-profit trade association comprised of manufacturers and distributors of promotional products. SAAGNY has been representing the promotional products industry in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) since 1955.
