'Megxit' Merchandise Hits the Web After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Plot New Lives
We are only a few days removed from the decision by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to step aside from their roles as senior members of the British royal family, but in this lightning-fast world, that period has proven enough time for merchandise to flood the market and address their hopes for financial independence. Combining the names of the Duchess of Windsor and the U.K.'s plan to leave the European Union, the "Megxit" goods have become internet darlings and will certainly not see online sellers abdicating their roles as commercial opportunists.

Though the whole idea of royalty has largely changed over recent global history, British sovereigns seem to hold an irrepressible allure to many individuals, particularly those who call the United Kingdom their home (obviously). Markle and her beau intend to spread their wings to include Canada as a domestic setting.
The Daily Mail reported that Amazon already has more than 250 items for sale, and eBay is hawking 50. Add in other sites like Etsy, and we have the makings of what could be a lucrative way to celebrate a historical break with tradition—especially after the market was flooded with all things related to the couple's wedding.

Regarding the goods, Yahoo offered a pretty solid roundup, going heavily on apparel selections and including a PopSocket, a cushion, a tote and a mug as other ways for end-users to wish the duo well. One could argue that the merch will work as a balm, too, as there will definitely be many people who see Megxit as a shock to their admiration of royalty.
In other words, perhaps the items will help them to see that times change and that, as the mug says, there come times where you have to “start living your best life."
As for expectations, we can clearly see those who have not taken to making scrutinizing Markle a hobby enjoying the variety of products, particularly the wardrobe. With respect to the new life that she and her husband will create, we fully expect for that, too, to inspire some promotional concepts, especially if their time in Canada makes them hockey fans. After all, they already have experience with wandering into the world of athletics.
