Mets' Manager Fidgets with BIC Pen During World Series
We all have our nervous tics. Some people bite their nails, others may twirl their hoodies' drawstrings. New York Mets manager Terry Collins showed his nerves during Game 5 of the World Series by fiddling with a pen. The pen that Collins furiously clicked was a 4-Color Pen from BIC Graphic.
A writer for Uniwatch (and also a reported Mets fan) wrote that Collins has been hanging onto that pen since at least May 2014. Jason Fry, a writer for Faith and Fear in Flushing, a Mets-focused blog, noticed Collins' clicking habit as far back as August 2011. Even back then, it was the 4-Color Pen from BIC.
Margit Fawbush, communications manager for BIC Graphic, Clearwater, Fla., said that the pen is widely popular due to its versatility.
"The BIC 4-Color Pen is a popular pen with a cult-like following," she said. "It's a great pen for a variety of industries and purposes."
Commentors theorized that the four colors allow Collins to color-code his scoring notes.
Viewers noticed Collins' firm grip on the pen in the dugout and took to Twitter, with some jokingly telling Collins to ease up on the poor pen.

Others were a little more critical, tying in his management with comments on the pen.
Does Terry Collins write each of his bullpen managing errors in a different color with that fun pen?

We can't blame him, the game (which ultimately ended the Mets' championship run) was a real nail-biter (or pen-clicker) until the end.
Fawbush also agreed that the pen was good for settling nerves.
"The color plungers are also quite clickable—perfect for those of us that fidget," Fawbush continued. "We're thrilled to have Terry Collins as a fan!"
Unfortunately for the Mets, the Royals ended up winning it all, and Mets fans will have to look forward to next year for a shot at the title. Maybe someone also can provide Collins with a stress reducer before the season starts back up in April.
