Newton Manufacturing Float Wins 2nd Place in Fourth of July Parade
The hard work and creativity earned the employees of Newton Manufacturing, Newton, Iowa, and their float a second place finish the in Newton Fourth of July Parade. "The Game of Newton Life" float was a local take on the board game Life with several community landmarks inserted into the game's classic motif.
Employees volunteered after hours for several weeks to build the float. The idea for the float was developed by the company's Fourth of July Parade committee. Several of the committee members walked with the float during the parade and handed out can coolers, hand fans, stickers and candy.
The Newton Fourth of July Parade is organized by the Greater Newton Area Chamber of Commerce. The floats were judged just before the parade started.
