Nike Gives U.S. Olympic Athletes Personalized Gift Bags
Athletes train their entire lives to make it to the Olympic Games. While the ultimate goal is bringing home a medal, 1,200 athletes on Team USA know for sure they won't leave the games empty-handed, thanks to gift bags featuring some cool wearables from Nike.
"Customized to the respective national federation and meticulously crafted over nearly three years, the Brazil and U.S. athlete bags mix footwear and apparel elected for its ability to outfit athletes from all 41 sports in the games, regardless of their 2XS-to-4XL sizing range," Nike said in a press release. "The company's Innovation Team even went so far as to body map all of the athletes, creating avatars of the vastly varying body shapes to help inform their selections."
The bags feature items specific to the athlete's schedule during the games and his or her particular needs. For example, Nike has specific items in mind for gymnasts, who compete in back-to-back competitions for the first half of the event, and then can relax for the second half.
Paul George, a player on the U.S. men's basketball team, showed off some of the items he received in the bag to Bleacher Report.
George's bag included practice jerseys, shorts, a warm-up jacket, a hoodie and a U.S.-themed T-shirt.
