PCNA Strengthens Commitment to Environmental Responsibility
PCNA, a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based industry leader for eco-friendly and sustainable promotional products, recently announced that additional U.S. facilities have earned certification from the Forest Stewardship Council, strengthening the supplier’s continuing commitment to environmental responsibility.
Facilities in Pittsburgh and Miami join the company’s Charlotte location with FSC Chain-Of-Custody certification, which traces the path of FSC-certified products from forests through the supply chain, verifying that FSC-certified material is identified or kept separated from non-certified material. PCNA offers over 20 products that include FSC-certified material, with more to be introduced throughout 2022.
“The Forest Stewardship Council is the world’s most trusted organization for sustainable forest management,” said Liz Haesler, PCNA chief merchandising officer. “We’re doing our part to ensure that from the forest through processing, manufacturing, and distribution, our FSC-certified products are being tracked and best practices are being followed. When our distributor partners buy our FSC-certified products, they can trust those products are from responsibly managed forests.”
The FSC designation for PCNA facilities reflects the company’s comprehensive approach to environmental and social responsibility, one that goes beyond a diverse product collection featuring more than 200 eco-friendly and sustainable styles – everything from bags and notebooks made with recycled material to organic cotton tees and hoodies. Through a partnership with 1% For the Planet, one percent of all eco-product sales are donated to a pair of nonprofits: One Tree Planted, which is committed to global reforestation, and Well Aware, which builds clean water systems in Africa. PCNA also has made a conscious shift in its operations, taking measures to reduce energy consumption, reduce waste on the production floor and increase recycling programs.
“While we continue to focus on offering our distributor partners the best assortment of eco-friendly and sustainable products, we’ve also evolved our thinking as an organization,” said Neil Ringel, CEO of Polyconcept, parent company to PCNA. “Sustainability has become a key component of every business decision we make.”
