Pinterest Predicts These 7 Apparel Trends for 2019
Every year, we wait around for Pantone to reveal its highly anticipated Color of the Year. However, the Pinterest 100 is another significant report that gives us a ton of insight into current and upcoming apparel trends.
The report is based off user search data, so it's a good indicator of the trends that are about to blow up. Last year, the social media site predicted wide leg pants, plastics, embellishments and socks would take over streetwear. And this year doesn't prove to be much different.
Here are seven apparel trends driving search traffic.
Last year, Logomania took over the fashion world, and based on Pinterest's findings, the trend isn't going anywhere. According to search data, queries for "logos" are up 203 percent. So, for promotional apparel distributors and suppliers, there's no better time to pitch apparel featuring your client's logo front and center.
Perhaps the large straw hat is on its way out as the French-inspired look takes over. We haven't seen a ton of promotional berets, but maybe 2019 is the time to get in on the look.
3. Layered Looks
In 2019, end-users will continue to reach for cozy options they can layer up. Promotional apparel suppliers and distributors should look to long sweaters, soft V-necks and comfy joggers.
4. Sheer Socks
We've told you in the past that promotional socks are a huge business opportunity, and that continues to remain the case as socks take over the fashion world.
5. Men's Commuter Bags
Searches for leather backpacks are up 146 percent going into 2019, as men reach for sturdy and fashionable accessories.
6. Men's Oversized Outerwear
The men's outerwear category is expanding to include bomber jackets and topcoats. Promotional apparel suppliers and distributors should consider adding varsity jackets, utility options and other elevated looks to their offerings.
7. Men's Monochrome Colorways
While Coral might be the Pantone Color of the Year, searches for "monochrome" are up 289 percent. That means denim looks, neutral hues and black ensembles are the hot ticket items for 2019.
