3 Ideas for Health and Fitness Promotions
We’re already a few days into 2022, but it’s never too late to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. For many people, the new year brings an opportunity to work toward their fitness goals. “Fitness” does not have to mean working out like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his Iron Paradise. It can be as simple as refilling a water bottle throughout the day (and actually hydrating), or maybe using a fitness band while binge watching “Succession.”
And, guess what: Promotional products can play a huge role in these wellness resolutions. Here are three ideas for health and fitness promotions.
1. Hydration Goals
Brandon Brown, vice president of marketing at SnugZ USA, West Jordan, Utah, said that certain drinkware products have been hot sellers within the fitness segment, especially at the beginning of the year when people are looking for a healthy fresh start.
“What immediately comes to mind is drinkware within our Thermos line,” he said. “We’ve got a couple hydration bottles that are really just kind of geared toward focusing on that first-of-the-year, New Year’s resolution to drink more water, fitness-oriented goals.”
Brown cited SnugZ’s 24 oz. Thermos Hydration Bottle Made With Tritan and Rotating Intake Meter as a popular choice among resolution-makers.
“What’s cool about this bottle specifically is that on the lid, there’s a little detail that you can turn to keep track of how many times you’ve filled the water bottle up,” Brown said. “A lot of people say, like, ‘Hey, I want to drink 150 or 200 oz. of water a day.’ They can keep track of how many times they’ve filled it up, so that’s something pretty cool. Something unique.”
Fitness is a year-round concern, but Brown said that companies like SnugZ certainly play into the added demand during the new year. In addition to individual decisions people make, a lot of companies implement group fitness and health challenges. Especially right now as people are still working from home, they have become a way for employees to stay connected with their peers.
“A lot of companies are challenging their employee base to be healthy and drink more water,” Brown said. “This is a great product for that open enrollment time period to get people excited about fitness in general or their overall health. And then, yeah, it kind of segues right into that New Year’s resolution to be more healthy this year.”
Once they get that water bottle, end-users might hold onto it for years. People become extremely attached to their water bottles.
“It’s funny how people get latched onto the one of their choice,” Brown said. “People have their favorites.”
2. Beyond the Workout
As we said earlier, fitness and health aren’t limited to the gym. Maybe your New Year’s resolution is to make more regular trips to the dentist (and try to receive better news when you get there).
Beacon Promotions worked on a campaign for a dental office that involved a promotion beyond the mini toothbrush or tube of toothpaste.
“A dentist office wanted to celebrate National Dental Hygiene Month in recognition of the dental hygienists on staff,” the company said. “Since dental health is important to your overall health, he wanted something relating to oral health. He already gives out a toothbrush and toothpaste to each patient when they come in, so he was looking for something different. He chose the [Toothpicks in a Case]. It was a small, inexpensive, useful item that had lots of room for his dental office information. The patients loved them and asked for more on their return visits.”
Anything that drives people to come back to the dentist happily is a home run as far as we’re concerned.
3. Staying Organized
Maybe your resolution is to get better about leaving your keys at the gym, or remembering to bring sunscreen on your runs. Both of those are important! Rather than lugging around a big backpack or just clipping your keys to your shorts’ drawstring and hoping for the best, you could try a fanny pack, like the Hip Pack by Southern Plus.
With space for decoration on the front of the bag, fanny packs make great giveaways for new members of a gym, yoga studio, health club or any other fitness-related business. The fanny pack revolution is well underway, and offering people an incentive like this is enough to at least get them in the door for a tour of the facilities. And then from there, they might just become regulars.
