Raining Rose Inc. Inner City 100 Hall of Fame
For the sixth consecutive year, Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Raining Rose Inc. has been recognized by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) as one of America’s fastest growing urban businesses. ICIC announced Raining Rose Inc. ranks 44th on the 2009 ICIC Inner City 100 list of fastest growing inner city companies in America. Collectively, the top 100 inner city businesses have employed nearly 17,000 people and created nearly 10,000 new jobs over the past five years.
In spring of 2004, Raining Rose Inc. was named as an “Inner City Company to Watch”. In 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Raining Rose Inc. was ranked 42nd, 52nd, 47th and 37th respectively, on the list of fastest growing inner city companies in America. Raining Rose Inc. has been inducted into the Inner City 100 Hall of Fame because of this continued growth.
“After dealing with great loss during the flood of 2008, it is a great honor to be recognized with this award,” said Chuck Hammond, president and CEO. “This is a time for all of us at Raining Rose to step back and celebrate our hard work and dedication.”
Hammond continued, “This award is especially meaningful because the inner city of Cedar Rapids was so devastated last June but this community continues to shine. It is a true testament to the strength and resilience of the companies and people in this area.”
“We are delighted to celebrate businesses like Raining Rose Inc. that are playing a critical role to revitalize distressed urban communities throughout America,” said Michael Porter, founder and CEO of ICIC. “By creating jobs, income and wealth for local residents, these high-growth businesses are vivid proof that the most effective way to address economic inequity in America is to equip every community to prosper in the market system.”
