Ralph Lauren Releases MLB Apparel Collaboration With Four Teams

Ralph Lauren announced a partnership with multiple MLB teams to create co-branded apparel. In 2018, the apparel brand partnered with the creator’s hometown team, the New York Yankees, for a collection that sold out fast. This new partnership will see Ralph Lauren collaborate with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and, once again, the Yankees.

“My dad has always been a huge baseball fan,” David Lauren, chief innovation and branding officer, as well as vice chairman of the board for Ralph Lauren, told Esquire. “He grew up in the golden age of baseball in the Bronx, and idolized players like Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio. So, when the Yankees invited him to throw out their ceremonial first pitch in 2018 in honor of the company’s 50th anniversary, it re-awoke so much of his childhood. We had an opportunity to create a special limited-edition capsule collection for the Yankees, and from the time my dad went out to pitch to the time he walked back off the field, the capsule had already sold out in minutes. This sparked interest to make even more pieces. We talked with the MLB and decided we wanted to expand to more teams ... and here we are.”

The Ralph Lauren brand is no stranger to sportswear, having been the official outfitter for Team USA at the Olympics.

This MLB collection includes Ralph Lauren staples with various baseball imagery, like polo shirts with team logos or the Polo Bear rocking the team’s uniform, sweatshirts, jackets and caps.

It’s a cool way to add team spirit to fashion and give fans a new way to dress for the ballpark than your average T-shirt or jersey.
