S&S Activewear, Bolingbrook, Ill., announced that it has strengthened its electronic data interchange (EDI) with a proprietary system called ApparelSync. EDI, the computer-to-computer exchange of documents, has become a standard for business-to-business collaboration across the apparel industry. With ApparelSync EDI, integrated customers are connected to real-time inventory, pricing, product information, and automated ordering and invoicing.
ApparelSync is now live, and will be demonstrated at the Americana Open House Oct. 24, 2014 in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and at PPAI Las Vegas, Jan. 13-15, 2015 and ISS Long Beach, Jan. 16-18, 2015. S&S has a dedicated team in place to help customers with all stages of implementation.
"Once integrated with our ApparelSync, the most up-to-date product information, images and prices are available to our customers continuously. When our customers' computer systems generate a purchase order, an order with any of our three national locations is automatically generated and transmitted to us, and an order confirmation is sent right back," said Margaret Crow, director of marketing for S&S. "It's completely worry-free, creating time for our customers to focus on managing their business, not their supply chain. For customers who are placing a lot of orders or managing their own website and product offering, ApparelSync is the answer. With our national reach and outstanding product offering, we're the best partner for customers to integrate with, giving them the edge over their competition."
By moving from paper-based or manual data entry to electronic, businesses realize benefits such as reduced cost, increased processing speed, fewer errors and stronger partnerships. While EDI is the communication between businesses, API—application program interface—is the communication between programs. API is a set of protocols and rules for building software applications. The API identifies how software components interact, providing the building blocks for programmers.
