Selfie Lighting Rings Might Be the Next Big Tech Item
We all remember how much selfie sticks blew up in popularity. They were a necessity for every vacation, family reunion or photo opportunity imaginable. Eventually, the popularity kind of caught up to them, and they were banned from some festivals, travel sites and stadiums, but they still served a real purpose and changed the way we take pictures of ourselves and our friends.
Now, we’re traveling less and not attending sports games, so the selfie stick may not be as useful. But there’s another “selfie” product that’s uniquely perfect for this time spent at home.
We’re talking about selfie lights.
Since so much of our interaction with others is via Zoom meetings or Skype happy hours, we still want to look our best. And not everyone’s home lighting is, well, the most flattering. To get that studio glow, there are lighting rings and other lights designed specifically for home photos and videos.
Here are a few examples of what we’re talking about:

For events that have moved to a virtual-only or hybrid settings, this kind of thing is great for people delivering presentations, moderating Q&As and more. Plus, it works for anyone wanting to look extra professional for remote meetings or video calls. It’s an immediately useful product that has a high perceived value and has plenty of room for customization.
People are always looking for more attainable, accessible versions of professional technology. These aren't as big or heavy or expensive as professional lighting rigs, but still get the job done. Much like a selfie stick isn't like a professional camera tripod or stabilizer, but it does the trick.
If you’re not familiar with the next big thing in selfie technology, hopefully we shed a little light on the situation.
