Tips of the Trade: What not to say
By Illise Benun, marketing mentor
When you’re making your calls or meeting new prospects through networking, how the heck do you get them to agree to be on your e-mail list so you can stay in touch over time?
First, here’s what not to say:
“Do you want to be on my mailing list?”
Who would say yes to being on yet another list, especially without knowing what they’ll get?
Here’s what to say instead (using me as an example):
“I’d love to keep in touch with you by sending you my Quick Tips from Marketing Mentor. May I?”
Most people say yes to that. Try it.
