Last Sunday, more than 40,000 people participated in the 2012 Blue Cross Broad Street Run. I was not one of them (I don't even have the discipline to stay off of Facebook for 30 minutes let alone train for a 10-mile, point-to-point course).
If you're unfamiliar with this run, it starts at the Central High School Athletic Field at Broad Street and Somerville Avenue. The course takes runners through various Philadelphia neighborhoods along Broad Street, and finishes inside the Philadelphia Navy Yard (at the end of Broad Street in South Philadelphia). To better assist runners, there are 11 water stations, digital clocks at each Mile, aid stations, port-a-potties (not exactly luxury, but desperate times call for desperate measures), entertainment and ambulances on the course.
