“2013 was a celebration year for us, but now it’s time to move on,” Roger Buck, Flesh's marketing director, said. “Our new website will offer distributors better access to our capabilities and education materials. This includes easy registration for our INSIGHTS newsletter and blog."

Mohawk Plans Major Business Expansion

Mohawk, Cohoes, N.Y., aims to grow its business and enhance its operation schedule this year. In the midst of hiring up to 100 full-time employees, Mohawk will invest millions of dollars in upgrading equipment and expanding envelope output at its converting center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Velocity Print Solutions to Consolidate Operations at Glenville, N.Y. Plant
January 2, 2014

Velocity Print Solutions, Scotia, N.Y., announced its decision to close its Middlebury, Conn. printing plant and expand its Glenville location. The commercial printer will add up to 20 new jobs over the next three years, and invest more than $300,000 to move and install its printing equipment at the currently 80,000 square foot site, located in the Glenville Business and Technology Park. The Connecticut sales office will remain open.

The Flesh Company Promotes Randy Lewis to VP of Manufacturing

Lewis has been with the company for more than 10 years as plant manager of its Parsons, Kan. production facility. He has 40 years of experience in the printing industry and holds a green belt in Six Sigma.

Printing Industries of America Calls for Congress to Reform Tax Code

Printing Industries of America (PIA) participated in a joint press conference held by the Reforming America's Taxes Equitably Coalition and the Coalition for Fair Effective Tax Rates (CFETR), collectively representing more than 1,500,000 businesses ranging from corporate rate payers to small mom-and-pop printers paying individual tax rates. PIA continues to educate Congress on the concept that tax reform should be viewed through effective tax rates—the amount of taxes businesses actually pay. Rather than promote tax preferences, PIA looks to keep effective tax rates front and center for lawmakers and highlight inequities of the code for businesses of all sizes.

Kendallville Custom Printing Inc. Acquired by The Hagar Corp.

The Hagar Corp., parent company of Specialized Printed Products, eMAGC and Geyer Instructional Products, has acquired the operating assets of Kendallville Custom Printing Inc.

The deal was announced Aug. 30. Kendallville Custom Printing is a long-established printing firm that serves Noble, LaGrange and Steuben counties. Its sales and production operations will be absorbed into Specialized Printed Products at its plant on St. Joseph Boulevard.

The acquisition was facilitated by the Regional Angel Investment Network. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
