Lewis Named CFO of MWV Community Development and Land Management Group

Richmond, Virginia-based MeadWestvaco Corp. announced Mark Lewis has joined the MWV Community Development and Land Management Group as the new chief financial officer, effective November 10. MWV Announces Plans to Close Grover, North Carolina, Packaging Plant

Richmond, Virginia-based MeadWestvaco Corporation announced in an effort to streamline costs and improve operational efficiencies, it will discontinue operations at its MWV Beverage Media Packaging plant in Grover, North Carolina. The facility produces packaging for the media and entertainment industry. Some production at this facility will transfer to other MWV Packaging plants, and the company’s capacity to supply these products will not be affected. MWV Reports Third Quarter 2008 Results

Richmond, Virginia-based MeadWestvaco Corporation reported third quarter 2008 income from continuing operations of $46 million, or $0.26 per share. Sales from continuing operations increased 8 percent to $1.81 billion in the third quarter of 2008 compared to $1.68 billion in the third quarter of 2007. Overall sales increased due to growth in bleached board; home, garden and beverage packaging; as well as improved pricing across all businesses.
