A few weeks ago, Teen Vogue held a panel in New York City to discuss how the fashion industry can and must employ social media. The New York Times reported that the viewers included students and young fashion-industry hopefuls chosen to attend that and other panels provided by Teen Vogue University. Audience members asked questions about how to make their blogs and fashion websites stand out. Their extensive knowledge of the industry and social media platforms illustrates the future of fashion. If anyone was worried about how an industry reliant on top-secret shows and print magazines would fare in the digital age, they need no longer worry. These young men and women are already making a difference before their names are even known. They are spending time on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube getting to know the ins and outs of the powerful websites before they reach 18. This knowledge and use of social media is something every industry needs to employ, so if you have not already, create social media pages and encourage your clients to do the same.
