What? What? What? (Ask 'What?' Three Times) Part 3 of 'Get Curious About Your Business'
3. What do you want to be known for? You are building your reputation with every single interaction with every single customer every single day. What are you creating? Are you going beyond being different and being distinctive? Will you be known for your ability to create emotional meaning and provide personal benefits that turn customers into fans? To help you find your distinctive benefit, describe three characteristics of successful people or businesses that you admire and want to emulate. Now do the same but with three characteristics of people of businesses you do not want to emulate. Create your own distinction so that you can break out of the competitive marketplace.
I told you in part one of this series that all of this questioning is hard work. It requires hard, conscious effort. But the payoff is that you will know exactly what you will and will not do and for whom you will and will not do it. You are creating your vision and you are doing the hard work that your competitors probably have not done. You are creating distinction.
