January is the embodiment of the new. People celebrate the new year, discuss their New Year’s resolutions, outline their plans and, in general, treat the month like it’s a fresh start on life. January is treated as a new beginning every year because it’s the beginning of our calendar year and … that’s it.
There is nothing about January that signifies newness. Temperatures drop. Trees and plants are dead. Animals are hibernating. There’s nothing new on TV. Studios release their worst movies. Nothing new is happening.
Despite that, there is something in the air this time of year. We spend December catching up with family and friends, celebrating our oldest relationships as a capstone to the last 12 months. Everyone takes time off for the holidays to recharge, to appreciate what we have, to be a little nicer and kinder to everyone. December is a happy ending. What follows, logically, is a new beginning.
In that spirit, we’re treating January as a chance to try some new things with Promo Marketing. Our website has seen a complete redesign, featuring a new look that’s both easier to navigate and easier on the eyes. Over the next few months, we’ll be rolling out new blogs, new video series, new product reviews and new columns that you can only see on our site. And of course, we’ll continue to be your source for breaking news, industry commentary and general snark and sarcasm.
Our product spotlights in the magazine have also received a new look. We’ve heard your comments and, starting with this issue, will include more promotional products covering a wider variety of categories than ever before. Start by checking out the best new products of 2016 on page 28.
We’ve got a lot of cool stuff planned for you this year and I’m excited to get started with it this month.
